Actions at the HRPDC Quarterly Commission Meeting, July 21, 2010

The Commission took the following actions at the Quarterly Commission Meeting on July 21, 2010:

Green Infrastructure Grant Proposal:  Grant proposal to National Association of Regional Councils for green infrastructure project approved as part of the consent agenda.

Climate Change/Sea Level Rise Presentation:  Dr. Koch presented background information on the issue of sea level rise and suggested a partnership with HRPDC to elevate this issue through analysis of financial impacts and pursuit of LIDAR for the entire region.

Operation Sail:  Karen Scherberger, Norfolk Festevents, presented an overview of OpSail 2012.  Commission approved a resolution of support.

Hampton Roads H2O - Help to Others - Program MOA:  The Commission authorized the Executive Director to execute the MOA with HRSD and the H2O Program Board governing the responsibilities of the 3 entities.

HUD Sustainable Communities Regional Planning Grant Program:  The Commission approved the MOU establishing the Hampton Roads Sustainable Communities Consortium.  MOU will be distributed to localities, HRSD and HRT.

New Business:  Southampton County TIGER II grant.  The Commission approved the proposal by Southampton County for TIGER II funds for the Courtland Interchange on Route 58.
