Disability Services Boards (DSB) Serves as a resource for information on the partnerships between the consumer and education institutions, local government and businesses to increase sensitivity awareness and to develop consumer-oriented, community-based services for people with disabilities as defined by the Americans With Disabilities Act and its Amendments.

Virginia State Rehabilitation Council (SRC) Appointed by the Governor to work on behalf of people with disabilities by serving as a source of advice, information, and support for the Commonwealth of Virginia’s Department of Rehabilitative Services (DRS) and civil rights of 28 million deaf and hard of hearing Americans in education, employment, health care and telecommunications.

Department of Rehabilitative Services Collaborates with the public and private sectors to provide and advocate for the highest quality services that empower individuals with disabilities to maximize their employment, independence and full inclusion into society.

The Virginia Office for Protection and Advocacy (VOPA) helps with disability-related problems like abuse, neglect, and discrimination. We also help people with disabilities obtain services and treatment. All callers receive help with these problems. Individuals with problems, targeted in our program priorities, may also receive advocacy services and/or legal representation.

Americans With Disabilities Act (ADA) Information Center for the Mid-Atlantic Region Offers information on the ADA Information Center for the Mid-Atlantic Region which is one of ten regional centers established to provide training, information, and technical assistance on the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) to businesses, consumers, and state and local governments. Also provides links to other State and Federal Resources.

CHEAR- CHEAR’s mission is to foster and provide support for the necessary resources to the Hampton Roads community, its region, our nation and beyond, so that all citizens can obtain the highest quality and comprehensive services for disorders of the ear, hearing and balance.

The Alexander Graham Bell Association for the Deaf and Hard of Hearing One of the world's largest membership organizations and information centers on hearing loss and the auditory approach. AG Bell focuses specifically on children with hearing loss, providing ongoing support and advocacy for parents, professionals and other interested parties.

The Association of Late Deafened Adults (ALDA) Works collaboratively with other organizations around the world serving the needs of late-deafened people.

Virginia Dept. for the Blind and Vision Impaired (VDBVI) Enables blind or visually impaired individuals to achieve their maximum level of employment, education, and personal independence.

Virginia Industries for the Blind (VIB) Established over seven decades ago as a not-for-profit organization offering vocational rehabilitation for blind Virginians, VIB is a self-funded division of the Virginia Department for the Blind and Vision Impaired (DBVI).

Cochlear Implant Association, Inc. (CIAI) Formerly Cochlear Implant Club International, Inc., CIAI is a non-profit organization for cochlear implant recipients, their families, professionals, and other individuals interested in cochlear implants. The Association provides support and information and access to local support groups for adults and children who have cochlear implants, or who are interested in learning about cochlear implants. Also advocates for the rights of and services for people with hearing loss.

Self Help for Hard of Hearing Persons, Inc. (SHHH)
Opens the world of communication to people with hearing loss by providing information, education, support and advocacy.

The Virginia Association of the Deaf (VAD) A nonprofit organization made up of people who are dedicated to the general welfare of the deaf and hard of hearing in the Commonwealth of Virginia.

Canine Companions for Independence® provides highly-trained assistance dogs for children and adults with disabilities, free of charge. The most advanced technology capable of transforming the lives of people with disabilities has a cold nose and a warm heart!

Virginia Board for People with Disabilities

The Board serves as the Developmental Disabilities Planning Council, addressing the needs of people with developmental disabilities as established under the federal "Developmental Disabilities Assistance and Bill of Rights Act" and the state "Virginians with Disabilities Act". Since 1992, the Board has been an executive branch state agency located within the Secretariat of Health and Human Resources. The Board has autonomy over the use of its federal funding and the hiring of its staff.
