HRPDC’s Water Resources Department provides technical and planning support to local stormwater, drinking water, and wastewater programs. Program activities are focused on the management of regional groundwater and surface water resources and water quality regulations. The Water Resource Department engages in a broad range of technical assessment and planning efforts to address existing and emerging needs for groundwater, stream, and wetland protection; water supply planning; watershed management; and locality water, wastewater, and stormwater utility programs.

Staff also monitors legislative and regulatory actions to identify emerging issues that require technical support and to anticipate areas where localities may benefit from coordinated action and regional advocacy.
