Do you live in the Town of Boykins, Branchville, Capron, Courtland, Ivor, or Newsoms? If so, we need your input!
The towns in Southampton County are preparing an amendment to the 2022 Hampton Roads Hazard Mitigation Plan that outlines a mitigation action plan developed for each town. Individual actions were prepared by a Planning Committee that consisted of town representatives, but public input and review is necessary prior to plan adoption by each town.
The 2022 Hampton Roads Hazard Mitigation Plan identifies hazards and develops strategies to reduce loss of life and property. This planning process is structured around the four phases of the Disaster Mitigation Act of 2000. The Hazard Mitigation Plan is updated every five years to ensure each town in Southampton County is eligible for federal disaster funding following a disaster event.
