The HRPDC could grow by another member at the end of this fiscal year. Mr. Peter Stephenson, Smithfield Town Manager, will provide a brief presentation to the HRPDC about their interest in membership at the April 17, 2014 Quarterly Meeting. The Town of Smithfield, with a population of just over 8,000, is located within current HRPDC member, Isle of Wight County.
Any governmental subdivision within the Planning District boundaries can become a member of the HRPDC at the end of the Commission’s Fiscal Year (June 30th) provided that the governmental subdivision expresses an interest and executes the Charter Agreement.
Dwight Farmer, Executive Director, will brief the Smithfield Town Council meeting on April 28, 2014 about the services offered by the HRPDC.
