The Hampton Roads Planning District Commission (HRPDC) is requesting input on the development of an amendment to the regional Solid Waste Management Plan (SWMP). A public meeting on the amendment will be held Wednesday, May 4, 2016, 5PM, at HRPDC, 723 Woodlake Drive, Chesapeake, VA. The SWMP amendment will define the development plans for a material recovery facility at 89 Pagan Ave., Smithfield, VA.
Please note that all solid waste facilities within Southeastern Hampton Roads must be consistent with the SWMP, which was developed, written and is managed by the HRPDC.
Those interested also can submit written statements to be considered in the development of the amendment prior to the public meeting. Statements should be mailed to Jai McBride, HRPDC, 723 Woodlake Drive, Chesapeake, VA, 23320 or emailed to jmcbride@hrpdcva.gov. These will be part of HRPDC’s permanent record. All interested parties are asked to review the Southeastern Virginia Solid Waste Management Plan.
