HRHC Sets Date for 11th Annual Housing Awards; Announces Poster Contest

The Hampton Roads Housing Consortium (HRHC) will honor this year’s recipients of the Hampton Roads Housing Awards at a ceremony on Thursday, October 12, 2017, at the Crowne Plaza Hotel in Hampton, VA. This year is the 11th year the HRHC has recognized the organizations and individuals in Hampton Roads that have demonstrated excellence in affordable housing.  This year’s keynote address speaker is Addie Wright Thomason, J.D. She is the President and CEO of Second Act Communities and Virginia Beach Community Development Corporation.

New for this year’s Awards program is the My House, My Home, Our Community Poster Contest. Open to elementary-aged students on the Peninsula, the contest seeks entries that creatively present the  idea of house, home and community using crayons, pencils, markers, or paint on poster board media size up to 24”x36”. Entries will also include the artist’s description of the work and how it captures the HRHC mission.

Entries will be judged on creativity, composition and the artist’s statement, and three entries will be selected as winners of a monetary prize.  For more information on the poster contest, visit the HRHC website or click on the image below.
