Over 150 government, school division, and business representatives from Virginia’s Urban Crescent have been working together to stress the importance of increasing state funding for K-12 public education. Since fiscal year 2009, the Commonwealth has reduced its share of funding for public education by more than $1 billion. Our localities are now contributing double the amount required under current statute for public education, even as local revenues have declined. This creates difficult choices in providing high quality local services to area residents.
