On January 5th, the Navy Region Mid-Atlantic Public Affairs Office released its annual report on the Navy’s economic impact to the Hampton Roads region. The report covers fiscal year 2009 (Oct. 1, 2008 through Sep. 30, 2009). According to the report, the Navy had brought the region $8.2 billion in payroll expenditures and $6.7 billion in procurement for a total direct economic impact of $14.9 billion.
