COVID-19 Planning Hub Continues to Track Pandemic Impacts in Hampton Roads

Chart Depicting Daily Covid-19 Cases with 7-Day Moving Average from Jan 7 2022As the COVID-19 pandemic moves into its second year, the Hampton Roads COVID-19 Impact Planning Hub continues to provide data and information for the region. The Hub has been used by regional leaders and the public to stay informed and help make decisions. It was first released in April 2020 with a single dashboard. Since then, it has undergone several improvements, additions, and updates. The Hub now hosts eight dashboards for COVID-19 case data plus several maps, charts, and graphs to visualize the data and trends. There are also links to many reports by the HRPDC and HRTPO regarding the impacts of the pandemic.

The following list summarizes the information provided on the Hub:

  • Reported COVID-19 cases, hospitalizations, and deaths for the region, localities, and health districts.
  • Reported COVID-19 cases and testing encounters by ZIP code areas.
  • Reported number of PCR tests and positivity rates by health district.
  • Reported number of vaccines received and administered in Hampton Roads for the region and localities.
  • Demographics (age, race, and sex) of COVID-19 cases, hospitalizations, deaths, and vaccinations.
  • Economic impacts, including regional unemployment claims.
  • Transportation impacts, including regional traffic volumes.
  • Education impacts, including Mode of Instruction data for the 2020-21 school year.

The data for COVID-19 cases and vaccinations is provided by the Virginia Department of Health (VDH). VDH also publishes additional data, information, and analysis that is beyond the scope of the Hampton Roads Hub. Please visit VDH’s COVID-19 in Virginia website to access their data and dashboards as well as to stay up to date on vaccination and health information.
