The Southeastern Public Service Authority of Virginia and the Hampton Roads Planning District Commission have completed a Draft Regional Solid Waste Management Plan Update for Southeastern Virginia. The plan has been updated to enable the cities, counties and towns lying within the SPSA Service Area to comply with the requirements of Section 9VAC 20-130-175F of the Virginia Administrative Code. Those provisions require that all localities or a regional agency on their behalf update the solid waste plan every five years. The Plan describes the facility needs to allow the region to provide a cost-effective environmentally sound system of waste management through the year 2035.
Written comments on the update will be accepted until July 16, 2015 and may be directed to Randy Keaton, HRPDC at rkeaton@hrpdcva.gov or at 723 Woodlake Drive, Chesapeake, VA 23320.
A public hearing to receive public input on the draft update will be held on July 1, 2015 at 5:30 p.m. in the Regional Board Room, 723 Woodlake Drive, Chesapeake, VA. For further information, call 420-8300.
