Resolution of Appreciation for Departing HRPDC Members

The HRPDC recognized three departing HRPDC members at its June 16, 2016 meeting. Resolutions of Appreciation were presented to HRPDC Chair and City of Williamsburg Mayor, Clyde Haulman; City of Hampton Mayor, George Wallace; and City of Norfolk Mayor, Paul Fraim. All three are leaving their elected office at the end of June and as such can no longer serve on the HRPDC.

Chesapeake City Council Member and current HRPDC Vice-Chair Dr. Ella Ward was elected to assume Chair duties and serve out Mayor Haulman’s unexpired term. James City County Board of Supervisors Member Michael Hipple was elected to serve as Vice-Chair.

  • Mayor Haulman was appointed as a member of the Hampton Roads Planning District Commission in July 2010, and served as Vice Chairman from October 2013 until September 2015 and as Chair from October 2015 to June 2016. He participated on the Personnel and Budget Committee and contributed substantially to the success of the Organization’s objectives through his professional insight, broad experience and strong leadership.
  • Mayor Wallace was appointed to the Hampton Roads Planning District Commission in November 2013.  He demonstrated leadership and devoted personal time and energy toward developing a strong sense of regional cooperation among the member governments, contributing to many successful efforts to address regional issues. He rendered invaluable service to not only the City of Hampton but the citizens of Hampton Roads as well.
  • Mayor Fraim served on the Hampton Roads Planning District Commission from July 1990 to June 2016, including terms as Vice-Chair (November 2004-October 2006) and Chair (November 2006-2008). He contributed greatly to the Commission’s success through his dedication and experience, devoting immeasurable personal time and energy toward developing a strong sense of regional cooperation among the member governments.

The Commission extends best wishes to all three gentlemen in their future endeavors.
