On June 14th, the Regional Board Room hosted a near capacity crowd for the “Understanding Reasonable Accommodations” workshop. The workshop was a joint presentation of the Hampton Roads Housing Consortium (HRHC) and the Hampton Roads Disabilities Board (HRDB). The HRPDC provides staff support to both organizations.
One-hundred (100) participants learned in-depth training on various topics including, Hoarding, Use of Service Animals, and using the proper terminology when addressing person with disabilities.
The presenter, Mahalia Mason, from Virginia Fair Housing Office/DPOR, commented that “just looking at 100 people, spending an entire Friday learning about Fair Housing speaks to the need and passion that advocates and counselors have to assist our citizens.”
