Housing Workshop Brings Near Capacity Crowd to Regional Board Room

On June 14th, the Regional Board Room hosted a near capacity crowd for the “Understanding Reasonable Accommodations” workshop. The workshop was a joint presentation of the Hampton Roads Housing Consortium (HRHC) and the Hampton Roads Disabilities Board (HRDB). The HRPDC provides staff support to both organizations.

Mahalia Mason from Virginia Fair Housing Office/DPOR address the 100 particpants at the Understanding Reasonable Accommodations WorkshopOne-hundred (100) participants learned in-depth training on various topics including, Hoarding, Use of Service Animals, and using the proper terminology when addressing person with disabilities.

The presenter, Mahalia Mason, from Virginia Fair Housing Office/DPOR, commented that “just looking at 100 people, spending an entire Friday learning about Fair Housing speaks to the need and passion that advocates and counselors have to assist our citizens.”
