Virginia DEQ recently announced the recipients of the first funding awards from the Stormwater Local Assistance Fund. The Fund was established in 2013 to provide matching grants to local governments for the planning, design, and implementation of stormwater best management practices that cost effectively reduce pollutant loads to local waterbodies. Localities in Hampton Roads requested nearly $11.5 Million. Hampton Roads localities will receive $6.9 Million, approximately 60 percent of the funds requested, to construct stormwater treatment facilities throughout Hampton Roads with the goal of improving local water quality and meeting Chesapeake Bay pollution reduction goals. See below for a list of projects and funding received. For additional information on these projects, please contact the locality’s stormwater program division.
