Habitat for Humanity Peninsula is holding an informational “Open House” for citizens interested in learning more about Habitat programs on Saturday, March 26, 2011 at 10:00 am. This Open House will be held at An Achievable Dream Middle & High School, located at 5720 Marshall Avenue in Newport News. Officials from Habitat will be on hand to answer questions about first-time homebuyer programs (both new construction and rehabbed homes) as well as the A Brush With Kindness (ABWK) program, a housing repair program for low-income, disabled or elderly homeowners. Habitat is also seeking homeowners for occupancy in homes later this year for construction in the East End of Newport News.
Applications for both programs will be accepted on-site and will be available Monday, March 14, 2011 through Friday, March 25, 2011. Applications can be downloaded on line or are available for pick-up at the Main Street Library (110 Main Street in Newport News), the Habitat Main Offices (809 Main Street in Newport News) and, at the Habitat ReStore (9614 Warwick Boulevard in the Hilton Shopping Center in Newport News).
