Hampton Roads Receives $3.25 million in Homeland Security Funding

Hampton Roads UASI LogoThe Hampton Roads region has been allocated $3.25 million for the FY 2019 Urban Areas Security Initiative (UASI) Grant. The UASI Program assists high-threat, high-density Urban Areas in efforts to build, sustain, and deliver the capabilities necessary to prevent, protect against, mitigate, respond to, and recover from acts of terrorism. The Region was reinstated to the UASI Program in 2017, following a three year effort by local, state and federal officials to restore this designation.

The UASI funding is part of the FY 2019 Homeland Security Grant Program (HSGP). HSGP includes a suite of risk-based grants to assist state, local, territorial, and tribal efforts in preventing, preparing for, protecting against, and responding to acts of terrorism. In FY 2019, the UASI program will provide $590 million to assist high-risk Urban Areas in preventing, preparing for, protecting against, and responding to acts of terrorism.
