A New Way to Pledge to Protect Our Waterways

askHRgreen.org is partnering with several local groups on a special outreach campaign to encourage pet owners to scoop the poop. This joint effort will launch on Tuesday, May 20 when citizens across Hampton Roads will be invited to take an online pledge to pick up after their pets. Those who make the pledge will be automatically entered to win prizes, which will be announced daily May 21 through 23 through the askHRgreen.org website.

Pet waste left on the ground is one of the leading causes of harmful bacteria in local waterways, leading to the motto of the joint campaign: “From Rover to River – No Poop Left Behind.”

In addition to askHRgreen.org, the public awareness campaign administered through HRPDC, the partner organizations sponsoring the pet waste campaign range from local animal shelters and animal rights groups to the Elizabeth River Project. Stay tuned to the askHRgreen.org website for more information about the “Scoop-the-Poop Pledge” and this special joint campaign to increase awareness that poop pollutes our local waterways.
