The Hampton Roads Planning District Commission (HRPDC), with support from the Hampton Roads Metropolitan Medical Response System (HRMMRS), hosted the Healthcare Organization Emergency Preparedness Seminars (HOEPS) in May focused on emergency planning and preparedness for nursing homes, assisted living facilities and group homes. This regional event has become a highly anticipated annual training for facilities across Hampton Roads. This year attendees were addressed by keynote speaker, Dr. Barb Bisset, Director of the Emergency Services Institute at WakeMed in Raleigh, NC. Dr. Bisset shared the knowledge and experience she acquired through eight hurricanes and multiple disaster medical response operations.

The HOEPS 2013 seminars were well attended with 154 attendees and 15 emergency managers participating in the events.
