May Map of the Month: The 2021 Great American Cleanup Results

The 2021 Great American Cleanup, hosted by askHRgreen.org and Keep Virginia Beautiful, was held on March 26 & 27 in Hampton Roads. The May 2021 Map of the Month depicts the results of the work of over 1,300 volunteers across the region clearing litter from parks, stream beds, parking lots, and more.

Map of Hampton Roads depicting 2021 Great American Clean-Up litter collection and locations and amount depicted by circles sized by amount of litter collection.

The circles indicate where many of the individual cleanup events took place. The size of the circle represents the number of volunteers at that event. The localities are symbolized by the total weight of litter collected from all events combined. View the legend on the map for further details. You can also click on the map to see information about an event or locality, and some select event photos.

Note that not all events reported a specific location which could be mapped but their results are included in the locality totals.
