New Fact Sheet Released for Chesapeake Bay Program

Removal Rates for Urban Stormwater Retrofit ProjectsLocalities are applying a variety of management actions to achieving the Bay TMDL.  The Chesapeake Bay Program has developed a process to assign credits to each management action included in the Bay Model. Several important regulatory drivers are likely to increase the number of stormwater retrofit projects installed in VA.  Stormwater retrofits are projects that provide pollutant reductions on existing development sites that currently have inadequate or no stormwater treatment.  The Chesapeake Bay Program has developed a protocol for calculating the pollutant removal rate for retrofit projects.   The full report details the various types of retrofit projects and the protocol specifics. HRPDC has created a fact sheet that summarizes the credits and how localities can take advantage of them.  Future fact sheets will be developed to address stormwater performance standards, stream restoration, and shoreline management.
