Nancy Collins, former Chief Financial Officer for the HRPDC and HRTPO, pulled her final tape from the calculator at the end of September. Coworkers, friends and family celebrated her career with a retirement luncheon at one of her favorite restaurants, The Imperial Palace in Virginia Beach. Ms. Collins was the HRPDC and HRTPO CFO for over 20 years.

From the time she joined the HRPDC in 1998, Nancy provided the highest level of professional financial services to both organizations. In addition to providing financial oversight, she was instrumental in the establishment of the Hampton Roads Metropolitan Medical Response System (HRMMRS) in 1999. During her tenure, she worked under three different Executive Directors, and served as Interim Executive Director when called upon.

The HRPDC and HRTPO were not the only organizations to benefit from Ms. Collins’ financial guidance. She served as the treasurer of the Hampton Roads Military and Federal Facilities Alliance (HRMMFA) from 2013 until her retirement. She helped establish the Hampton Roads Transportation Accountability Commission (HRTAC) and served as its CFO until September.

In retirement, Nancy plans to move to Nelson County once her husband, Dixon Tucker, retires from the Office of Drinking Water, Virginia Department of Health. While she waits for Dixon to retire, she plans to sight-see around Hampton Roads, spending time in the many local parks and museums and enjoying all the region has to offer. She is also looking forward to having more time to visit with family and friends as well as practicing her golf game.
