The Virginia Department of Environmental Quality (DEQ) is soliciting applications for matching funds through the new Stormwater Local Assistance Fund. DEQ has $35M available and each locality is eligible to receive up to $5M. Each grant requires a 50% local match. Only capital projects for reducing and treating stormwater runoff are eligible for these funds. The fund guidelines (http://www.deq.virginia.gov/Portals/0/DEQ/Water/ConstructionAssistanceProgram/SLAF%20Final%20Guidelines.pdf) include the methodology that will be used to score and rank applications such as the amount of total phosphorus reduced and cost effectiveness. The applications are due on November 15, 2013.
Additional information about the Stormwater Local Assistance Fund is available at http://www.deq.virginia.gov/programs/water/cleanwaterfinancingassistance.aspx.
