The Hampton Roads Housing Consortium (HRHC) held the organization’s Sixth Annual Members’ Housing Awards October 11, 2012 where Chair, Wendy A. Hunter, honored this year’s award recipients. The HRPDC supports the work of the HRHC. These awards recognize individuals and organizations that have contributed to improving housing conditions for the region.
This year’s award winners are:
HRHC Lifetime Achievement Award - Mary Kay Horoszewski, Executive Director -Virginia Beach Community Development Corporation
HRHC Housing Warrior - Helen Sommer, Executive Director - Habitat for Humanity of South Hampton Roads
HRHC Housing Partner – Special Project Award -Hampton Home Repair & Blitz - City of Hampton
HRHC Across the Region Service Award - Hampton Roads Community Housing Resource Board
The Awards Breakfast was held at the Chesapeake Conference Center. Virginia Senator Mamie E. Locke provided the keynote address.
The HRHC is a voluntary association of governmental, private, and non-profit organizations committed to improving housing opportunities for low and moderate-income households in Hampton Roads. Participants include City and County governments, Redevelopment and Housing Authorities, non-profit housing and emergency shelter providers, mortgage lenders, Realtor© and builders associations, and a variety of other groups interested in affordable housing issues. Member groups represent most of the sixteen jurisdictions within the Hampton Roads region.
