The Hampton Roads Housing Consortium (HRHC) held the organization’s Eighth Annual Members’ Housing Awards on October 9, 2014 where this year’s award recipients were honored. These awards recognize individuals and organizations that have contributed to improving housing conditions for the region.
This year’s award winners are:
HRHC Lifetime Achievement Award - Phyllis Harrison – Suffolk Redevelopment & Housing Authority
HRHC Housing Warrior - Sue Armstrong – Hampton-Newport News Community Services Board
HRHC Housing Partner- Special Project Award - James City County – Office of Housing & Community Development – Forest Heights Project
HRHC Across the Region Service Award- Virginia Beach Community Development Corporation – Cedar Grove Veterans Apartment
The Awards Breakfast was held at the Crowne Plaza Hampton Marina Hotel. The Honorable George Wallace, Mayor of the City of Hampton was the event’s keynote speaker. The event’s honorary master of ceremonies was Don Roberts of WAVY TV 10.
As part of the Hampton Roads Planning District Commission’s programs and mission, our staff supports the work of our regional housing consortium, the Hampton Roads Housing Consortium (HRHC). HRHC is a voluntary association of governmental, private, and non-profit organizations and individuals committed to improving affordable housing opportunities in the Hampton Roads region of Virginia. Members include city and county governments, Redevelopment and Housing Authorities, non-profit housing and emergency shelter providers, mortgage lenders, realtors, builder associations, and a variety of other groups and individuals interested in housing issues. Member groups represent most of the seventeen communities within the Hampton Roads Region of Southeast Virginia.
