Regional Boards Embark on New Meeting Schedules

During its Annual Meeting on October 20, 2016, the HRPDC endorsed a change in meeting time and dates beginning January 2017. The change will designate the third Thursday of each month as “Regional Thursday.”

Currently, the HRPDC and its sister organization, the Hampton Roads Transportation Planning Organization (HRTPO), meet monthly in the Regional Board Room on the third Thursday.  The Hampton Roads Military and Federal Facilities Association (HRMFFA) and the Hampton Roads Transportation Accountability Commission (HRTAC) also use the Regional Board Room for their meetings, however on a quarterly basis and often on different days. Staff support for all four boards got together and developed a schedule that allowed for efficient use of the Regional Board Room, increased time for more in-depth conversation at all four Board meetings, and allowed members for all four boards to reliably schedule for Regional Thursday each month, as well as travel to and from the Regional Board Room during periods when travel on the region’s roadways is less hectic.

Beginning in January 2017, the HRPDC and HRTPO will meet in January, February, April, May, July, October and November. The times of the meetings have also changed. The HRTPO will lead off at 10:30am and the HRPDC will start at 12:30pm. As always, the chairs of both the PDC and TPO will have the discretion to call additional meetings as needed.

To foster more cooperation and communication, all four Boards will meet together in September. For more information regarding the meeting months and times for HRPDC, HRTPO, HRMFFA and HRTAC, refer to the table below.
