According to information released from the Bureau of Labor Statistics today, Hampton Roads’ unemployment rate for the month of July was 7.6%, remaining unchanged from the previous month but up from 7.0% in July 2009. On a seasonally adjusted basis, the region’s unemployment rate increased from 7.3% in June to 7.4% in July.
The region’s non-farm payroll employment for July experienced a decline of 0.3% from the previous month, although employment in the July 2010 figure was 0.4% higher than July of 2009. Employment in the region is down 34겨 jobs since the beginning of the recession in December of 2007.
