Hampton Roads Housing Consortium Hosts 10th Annual Hampton Road Housing Awards Celebration

The Hampton Roads Housing Consortium (HRHC) will honor this year’s recipients of the Hampton Roads Housing Awards at a ceremony at the Portsmouth Renaissance, October 13, 2016, at 11:30 am. This year is the 10th year the HRHC has recognized the organizations and individuals in Hampton Roads that have demonstrated excellence in affordable housing. This year’s ceremony will be extra special as the HRHC is commemorating it 20th year of advocating and supporting affordable housing efforts in Hampton Roads. The HRHC receives staff support from the HRPDC.

Awards are presented in the following categories:

  • HRHC Housing WarriorThis award recognizes  an  individual  that  has  demonstrated  lifetime  successes  committed  to  improving  the  lives  of  families  and  the  well-being  of  communities  through  recognition  that  households  of  all  income  levels  deserve  a  fair  opportunity  to  buy  or  rent  housing  that  is  safe, decent, affordable and suitable for their needs.
  • HRHC Lifetime Achievement Award - This award recognizes an individual that has been instrumental in creating or supporting affordable housing,  implementing  housing-related  programs,  educational  efforts  or  assisting  others  to solve  housing  programs  including  those  for  special  needs  populations.
  • HRHC Across the Region Service Award - This award recognizes an individual or organization that has demonstrated outstanding commitment, effectiveness and innovation in meeting any type of housing-related needs through a project or specific program.
  • HRHC Housing Partner - This award recognizes an organization or individual for distinguished service for the betterment of housing conditions on a regional level.

Congressman Bobby ScottThe public is invited to join the HRHC on October 13th as it announces and celebrates this year’s recipients. Registration and an event fee are required.

U.S. Congressman Bobby Scott will provide the keynote address.
