Hampton Roads Regional Benchmarking Study

The Hampton Roads Regional Benchmarking Study is an annual publication designed to evaluate regional progress across a broad range of categories. The data includes a locality profile for each of the region's 17 jurisdictions as well as graphical illustrations for over 90 regional benchmarks covering the economy, demographics, housing, transportation, and various quality-of-life indicators. Each graph is accompanied by a brief explanation regarding the purpose of the benchmark and the current condition in Hampton Roads.

These reports are based on publicly available data released at various times over the course of the year, some rely on Census Bureau data, others are from the Bureau of Economic Analysis, Bureau of Labor Statistics, or state datasets, while other updates come directly from various organizations, like the Port of Virginia or the University of Virginia's Weldon Cooper Center.

As this publicly available data is updated, these reports will be updated accordingly on a rolling basis. Each section linked on this page is the most recently updated HRPDC document.
